Willy’s Dad's World Famous Spaghetti
Willy's Dad's World Famous Spaghetti
I learned the basis of this recipe from my dad and have made some tweaks here and there to get it to perfection. Every time he made it, he called it his "World Famous Spaghetti". What is a meal that any Dad makes if not World Famous? Now I get to share it with you and your family. Enjoy!
Prep Time: 45 Min
Feeds: 3-5
Ingredients:
- 12 oz of Spaghetti
- Garlic Salt
- 1 lb Ground Turkey (or Beef)
- ½ Onion
- ½ Green Bell Pepper
- 1 TBSP, or 2-3 cloves, Minced Garlic
- 24 oz of your favorite Spaghetti sauce
- Fajita Seasoning
- Shredded Cheddar, "Chedda mo betta!"
- 2TBSP Parmesan
- 1TBSP Butter
- Optional - For spice throw in a few chopped jalapenos or cayenne
- 12-14 inch Sauce Pan
- Large Pot for Boiling Spaghetti
- Strainer
Instructions:
- Set 4-5 Quarts of water to boil and put some garlic salt in it
- Drop in the spaghetti when boiling and in the meantime, chop the veggies to your desired chunkiness.
- In a large 12 to 14 inch pan cook your thawed or fresh ground meat on medium until it begs to brown. Drain excess water if necessary so it's not boiled meat.
- Once brown, season liberally with Fajita seasoning. Pro-tip: make sure the ground meat is in smaller pieces and spread it evenly across the pan then dash a light coating of Fajita Seasoning over top, covering all areas, and you’re good to go.
- Add all of your previously chopped vegetables (Onion, Bell Pepper, Garlic, Spicy if you want it, and any others you might like to add) then stir together and let this cook covered for about 10 minutes or until the vegetables begin to soften. Check and stir every couple of minutes during this time frame
- Once the vegetables are soft, pour in the spaghetti sauce and add a quarter to half of the same container of water if you want it more runny
- Let this simmer on medium heat until it starts to bubble then switch down to low.
- The spaghetti should be ready by now so check it to your tooth’s desire and strain the water.
- Put the spaghetti back into the pot, turn off the heat! and melt the butter to prevent it from sticking. Throw the parmesan cheese in here too and miz it with your pasta and butter.
- Next you can fold the spaghetti into the sauce pan, or dump the sauce into your pot of boiled pasta, so that the flavors penetrate and it is a consistent mixture - or you can always serve them separately.
- Finally, top your spaghetti with shredded Cheddar cheese to have it Willy Style.
Enjoy!
